Vivian Hewitt's
Special Collection Room Project

On Thursday, June 25, 2015 a benefit was held to celebrate the "One and Only" Vivian Hewitt. Mrs. Hewitt along with CUBM director, Karla Byrd and assistant director John Stanko shared the vision for The Vivian Hewitt Collection Room. It will house over 1500 books from Mrs. Hewitt's personal collection dating back to 1943 and display a number of pieces of her African American Art Collection.

Mrs. Hewitt wanted CUBM to have this opportunity because CUBM shares her love for Pittsburgh, Geneva College, African American History, and People. But, it is only the beginning.

We urgently need your help! We have many things to do – repair and catalog books, purchase shelving, tables, and chairs, and other library equipment.

Please view the video and then partner with us to preserve the legacy of Mrs. Hewitt and the African American book collection and art that she has collected over her remarkable life.

There are three levels of support and each level will have a commemorative plaque with donors’ names on display in the completed Vivian Hewitt Special Collection Room. Add your family’s name to history; donate today to this wonderful legacy project.
